Dialectical Yoga Therapeutics (DYT), developed by our founder, Sarah Greenwood, is a stage 2-4 path centered on ‘Creating a Life Worth Loving (LW🖤)’. DYT is a deeply structured vitality-reinforcing lifestyle derived from 10+ years of application & refinement, while observing “what works” for private practice DBT + DBT PE graduates’ ongoing development.
As a yoga therapist, Sarah was lead trained by a Yoga International revered licensed physical therapist long-time yoga trainer, a contemplative licensed professional counselor and medical professionals (many whom studied yoga in India)~ Sarah’s formal yoga education centered on evidenced yoga therapeutics books that showed what worked for various mental health and physical medical conditions. From back strain, to aids and cancer, to anxiety and trauma, Sarah holistically assesses clients complimentary needs to support their path harmoniously with primary care.
In both yoga and counseling worlds, Sarah has long emphasized studies centered in attachment and sacred sexuality~ culminating in graduating an intensive years-long “neo” tantra teacher training (centered on de-socialization and re-humanization of sex, love and gender) via Margo Anand’s approach (author and past Gestalt-oriented somatic therapist). Passionate about east-meets-west approaches with strong evidence at the core, Sarah is further influenced by ongoing studies in non-dual classical tantra based on scholarly teachings from author (C. Wallis) based in Nepal who holds a PhD in mediaeval Indian studies from U of CA, Berkley.
Sarah developed ‘DYT’, this largely DBT PE skills-inspired vitality-mindful way of life (LW🖤) based on her 30+ yrs. practicing yoga, being a 20+ yrs. experienced certified yoga instructor & 10+ yrs. serving as a yoga therapist~ certified in her/box free yoga trainings with a 500-hr. yoga therapeutics training at AYC, internationally-revered Asheville, NC. 2015-2016 based yoga center (first completing 200-hrs. at Holy Cow Yoga Center in hatha & raja yoga studies, Charleston, SC. 2005-2006)
Sarah is passionate about gender harm recovery, intimacy satisfaction + minority advocacy~ and what she refers to as her ‘DBT activism’ approach to intervening in the environment with resources like DYT, a life worth loving (LW🖤) and her online school spreading vitality-awareness (incorporating DYT) to decrease mental health bias and ignite emotional wellness with community connection.
